Voices of the Hoar Oak Valley

Project duration: 12 months

Project summary:

The remote and beautiful Hoar Oak Valley on Exmoor has had inhabitants living at the shepherds cott known as Hoar Oak Cottage from 1750s to 1950s, visitors staying at the Exmoor Outdoor Activity Centre since 1960s and walkers and hikers since time immemorial. We seek to find the stories and memories of people, or the descendants of people, who lived, worked, stayed and visited the Hoar Oak Valley. Two North Devon Charities – the Friends of Hoar Oak Cottage and the St Mary Lyncombe Trust who run the Exmoor Centre have, in partnership, won a Heritage Lottery Grant to deliver this project during 2013.
