For many years I worked for Central TV and BBC Radio - including 12 years as a reporter for ‘Woman’s Hour’ - and I was also a Senior Lecturer in Radio. I moved from media work to oral history after I won the Commission for Racial Equality’s Race in the Media Award for producing 16 radio programmes in the BBC oral history series ‘The Century Speaks’. When I began working with schools and youth groups in 2003, I found this background invaluable for illustrating the differences between media interviews and oral history recordings. During 12 years as West Midlands Regional Networker for the OHS I was involved in many youth projects ,which led to my co-authoring the OHS website pages for schools and youth groups. I continue to provide consultancy via my website: http://www.oralhistoryconsultancy.co.uk
