Eighth in the East – a project which is looking at the social impact of the Eighth United States Army Air Force in East Anglia through oral history and archaeology.
I have experience of planning and carrying out oral history projects. I have also extensive experience of cataloguing and digitising sound recordings.
I have supported many oral history projects in Norfolk, through training and ongoing support. I have also accessioned, catalogued and made available the recordings of many other projects. As well as life history recordings which relate to all areas of Norfolk, other topics covered by this work include archaeology in Norfolk, the work of the John Innes Centre and its predecessor bodies regarding plant science, Norwich’s shoe and chocolate industries, Great Yarmouth’s tourism, fishing and North Sea gas industry, the history of bird watching and travel writing, the history of Mencap in Norfolk and links between Japan and Norfolk.
