Current project:

Conducting an HLF funded oral history project for York Mansion House, home of the York Lord Mayor. The 300 year old house is being renovated to become more publicly accessible. The project will be on ‘The Mansion House Below Stairs’, interviewing those who have worked in the house within living memory. I am interviewing, transcribing and producing a book and podcasts.


Previous projects:

Many projects for York Oral History Society including an oral history of popular music in York 1920-1970, conducting 150 interviews, producing two books and exhibition.

Co-ordinated project to digitise and transcribe 280 interviews with WW1 veterans in the 1980s from various parts of the UK. Wrote book on various aspects of the First World War using the oral history interviews, together with CD of extracts.

Produced many books on aspects of York’s history, each with an oral history component.

Produced podcasts on aspects of York history for York Civic Trust.

Oral history interviews for North York Moors National Park Authority.

Carried out over 600 oral history interviews in York and area, Harrogate, Leeds, Sheffield, Derby, Scotland, Sydney.
